The Problem
Innovate a solution to address inequality and social mobility within Leeds.
After meetings with industry experts, one of the main contributing factors to inequality was the lack of digital literacy skills in disadvantaged areas if Leeds.
What is Digital Literacy and Why is it Important?
Digital literacy is the ability to effectively find, evaluate, create, and communicate information using digital technologies.

Navigating the Digital World:
In today’s world, digital literacy is essential for participating in education, work, and social life.

Critical Thinking:
It helps individuals to evaluate the credibility of information and make informed decisions.

Effective Communication:
It enables individuals to communicate effectively and collaborate with others using digital tools.

Safety and Security:
It equips individuals with the knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and securely.

Creativity and Innovation:
It allows individuals to create and share their own digital content, fostering creativity and innovation.
Research Findings
Through Research methods such as user surveys, industry professional focus groups and report findings I could establish some key facts.
22%
of Leeds population are currently classed as digitally illiterate and struggle to navigate basic forms of technology.
100%
The Leeds council aims to have Leeds at 100% digital literacy.
6
Digital Literacy contributes to the council goal of achieving 6 UN Sustainability goals.
Ideation
Working with Developers, Market researchers and Business heads I could brainstorm ideas and outline requirements, stakeholders and innovation managment tools.

User Storyboarding
It was important to create a persona and user storyboard to outline key user experiences and create a method for design thinking. we based our persona off a user who struggled with technology and digital applications and she felt as though it was hindering her in life for getting a job, communicating and day to day tasks.

UX Storyboard and Wireframe
Once establishing the concept and identifying the goals of the application through design thinking, storyboards and research, the next steps were to create a rough wireframe for the application. The main aim was to create an intuitive, simple and easily navigated experience.
